Contacts are both internal and external to the department at all levels.The Category Manager performs and oversees strategic sourcing activities for a particular category as member of the strategic sourcing team. This position is responsible for creating and executing against a sourcing strategy. They collaborate with clinical and non-clinical service line leaders to align sourcing and contracting efforts and policy initiatives for the health system. This includes setting the sourcing strategy, building relationships with key stakeholders, developing and maintaining relationships with vendors, and negotiating contracts. They partner closely with clinicians to determine product value and set focus on variation management and use including new product introductions. The Category Manager specializes in a specific set of clinical or non-clinical areas (e.g., OR, CV/IR, Acute Care, Ambulatory, Clinical, Support Services, Capital, etc.)The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. The department oversees all aspects of purchasing, contracting, sourcing, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relations, with a strong focus on quality, compliance, and sustainability. As a strategic partner to clinical, research, and administrative departments, Supply Chain is instrumental in driving operational excellence, reducing costs, and enhancing patient care outcomes through data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.
