About the Role

The Company is in search of a Chief of Engineering to lead and oversee the engineering and maintenance functions at a mission-critical facility. The successful candidate will be the primary engineering leader on-site, responsible for managing a team of 12-14 technicians, ensuring round-the-clock support for core production systems, and driving equipment performance and reliability initiatives. Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring the engineering team, coordinating maintenance and engineering support across various systems, overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, troubleshooting advanced equipment failures, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The role also involves supervising contractors on capital improvement projects, driving efficiency through KPI monitoring, and promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Applicants for the Chief of Engineering position at the company should have a minimum of 7 years' hands-on maintenance experience in an industrial setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or engineering leadership role. Deep expertise in a range of technical systems, including boilers, steam systems, pneumatics, VFDs, PLCs/HMIs, and electrical control panels, is essential. The role requires a candidate with a proven ability to lead, coach, and retain technical talent, as well as skills in interpreting schematics and managing complex plant systems. A technical degree or equivalent field experience in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred, along with certifications such as Boiler Operator Certification. The Chief of Engineering must be prepared for a demanding work environment, with a focus on safety, and be available for on-call duties and flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
